OBITUARY FOR EDWARD LEE HEWITT
Edward Lee Hewitt Sr. was born in Merced, CA on November 8, 1953 to Pastor Heulon Hewitt Sr. and Missionary Rosie Mae Hewitt.
Edward was raised in the church and grew up in El Nido, CA where he went to El Nido Elementary School. As a young boy he loved to play games like dodgeball, baseball and run track. Edward was a very outgoing and fun boy as a child. He attended Merced High School where he played football and also ran track. After high school, Edward moved to the Bay Area in Oakland, CA where he lived until the early 1980's. Edward worked at one point for Ford Motor Company. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and happy go lucky attitude and used it to start his own carpet cleaning business.
Edward lived the majority of his life in Merced, CA where he was well-loved by the many friends and family who knew him.
Edward loved to watch his "westerns", play spades and watch some of his favorite movies. He was a jovial and funny man who loved to help people in their time of need.
Edward Lee Hewitt is preceded in death by his father Pastor Heulon Hewitt Sr., his mother Missionary Rosie Mae Hewitt, and sisters Wilma Lemon and Brenda Lee Hewitt.
Edward will be treasured and missed by his daughter Tanya Renee Brown and sons Edward Lee Hewitt Jr., Rodney Allen Hewitt, Johnny Edward Hewitt, and James Lee Hewitt, grandsons Erik Bergman Jr. and Rodney Hewitt Jr., granddaughters Iman Moore, Sara Brown, Aaliyah Hewitt, grandsons Kemond Brown Hewitt, Malik Brown, Jevohn Hewitt, granddaughters Jordyn Hewitt, Kaydence Hewitt, Emory Hewitt, grandsons Elijah Hewitt, Johnny Hewitt Jr., James Hewitt Jr., granddaughter Jocelyn Hewitt, along with his great grandsons Evan Bergman and Isaiah Bergman, and great granddaughter Alayna Moore. Edward also leaves to cherish his memory his sister Joedna Bohanon, brother Elvis Hewitt, brother Eldridge Hewitt, sister Rose Kirk, sister Louise Smalls, brother Heulon Hewitt Jr., sister Clora McCray, sister Edna Murray, sister Linda Hewitt, brother Allen Hewitt, sister Gwendolyn Hewitt and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
