Sheridan Holland was the second to the youngest of 7 born in Texas. All of his siblings have proceeded him in death including his first wife Ceola after her death in November 1980, he remarried to Shirley Sanders in 1983 who also proceeded him in death in December 2021. He joined the Navy in 1950 and retired in 1970, once retired started several businesses with his last venture as a locksmith for over 40 years. He was always reinventing himself and taking on new challenges. He was an avid runner and took exercising very seriously. During his time at sea he set a record for doing 1500 set-ups in record time. Competed in the Northern Calif. 1984 Senior Olympics age group 55-59 where he set a winning time for the 200 meter dash at 27.4 sec. We believe him to be the First Black Eagle Scout in the state of Texas by receiving his Eagle Scout honor in August 25,1947 which he was very proud of. He was a man of GOD and served as a Deacon at Palma Ceia Baptist Church as well as Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his daughters Karen Holland Johnson and Beverley Holland Mendez, his grand children Marcus Johnson, Victoria Elizondo and Natalie Johnson. With a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be missed and forever LOVED. ♥️
