Zenaida Diaz

It is with heavy hearts we announce Zenaida Diaz, age 89, of Hercules, California, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her children and loved ones on Monday, August 21, 2023.  She was born on February 14, 1934, to Pablo and Bienvenida Llanot Cora.  She is preceded in passing by her husband, Pedro Ortiz Diaz, parents Pablo and Bienvenida, siblings Osvaldo, Pablo, Fidel Llanot Cora, and her son Pabin Diaz.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion.  Zenaida is survived by her devoted children: Pablo Ortiz & wife Carmen Iris Ortiz, daughter Madeline Lopez & husband Paul Lopez, son Edwin Diaz, daughter Zoraida Diaz & partner Paula Vaughan.  She has twenty-four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  

Zenaida served as a nurse escort translator for visiting nurses of New York.  She enjoyed music, dancing, cooking, and entertaining.  From outstanding home-cooked meals to impromptu dance parties in the living room, she always reminded us to embrace the joy in life's simple pleasures.

She was strong, determined, compassionate, and displayed unwavering love.  She dedicated her life to raising her children and being a source of support and inspiration to everyone she encountered.  Her legacy lives on through the love she gave and the lives she touched.  She may no longer be physically present, but her spirit will forever guide and inspire us.
